Awaken Your Goddess

“Within every woman there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. Her name is Wild Woman, but she is..an endangered species.”

Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype

Lately I’ve been wanting to write more on my blog about empowering women. I have atleast 100 unpublished and unrefined blog posts from over the years however they are filled with the darkness I lived in. However when I write about the power of women I feel alive and vibrant. I am reminded that the world I live in can not take away my birthright to be a Goddess and Wild Woman.

As women we forget we are Goddesses. We forget we are Wild Women. Like I said before we forget who we are. We get caught up in trying to be everything we are not. We do all that we are told to do and leave little time to do what we want to do. I mean how did we get here to where we have to put our kids in every sport, have them learn an instrument, dress to impress, spend thousands on trying to turn back the hands of time, get our kids to make straight A’s, volunteer weekly…..how the hell did we get here? Because no where in that last sentence did I say anything about writing, creating, having sex, reading, dreaming, self care. No where because at the end of the day we are too exhausted or don’t have enough time. Well that was me but I have given up a lot of that for my own sanity. Call my selfish or an underachieving mom. I’ll take it.

Okay feminists get ready to cringe. I am all about women empowerment but I am not a feminist obviously. So women’s rights. You want it just as much as I do but we get caught up in trying to do everything a man does because we have the right and now society expects us to otherwise we are not giving what we are supposed to give to the world. We have not evolved enough from the women before us to handle being more masculine than feminine. Well maybe we are but we must get closer to our feminine. We are made to believe we have to give up much of our feminine to become masculine and some of us are just not meant to be that way. I now know I’m not. I’m meant to be fluid and open. Masculine and Feminine have different qualities and we must learn to embrace them all in some equal or close to equal way.

Balance of Power Between
Feminine and Masculine

For many years I have tried to hold onto more masculine. I’ve tried to be firm and always living in survival mode because I was always trying to be rational and show my strength. I saw these as gifts and not weaknesses. I saw instead my feminine side as a weakness. I saw being gentle made me look weak. I saw being emotional was a weakness and it was instilled in me that showing emotion was being irrational and not being rational is a bad thing. Rationality is a masculine trait. I needed to be expressive in my creative nature but that was not logical – how would you make money doing something creative. How would you survive?

Guess what though – following my emotions and learning to be flexible opened me up to a world of adventure and healing where I could be expressive and creative while surviving in this world. I’m still working on it but atleast I’m headed in the right direction.

Hmmmm. See how that works.

It’s called Balance and us women are often so out of balance. Men are too but this is not a post for them. The masculine side says “go, go, go” while the feminine side says “slow down and nurture the world”. Our souls are screaming to be wild and get the hell out of survival mode. Our bodies are screaming to unleash our passions and emotions. Our hearts want to soften and nurture the world. Our minds want to use our wisdom of pasts women and stories to heal the world in our own fluid, passionate and loving way. The world needs us now more than ever. The feminine is the giver of life and beauty in all facets of nature. The flower does not hid her feminine. I’m painting a picture of a Goddess – Woman of the Wild. I’m showing you a keeper of the hearth and mother to Children of God.

Here’s a daily exercise for you:

Say to yourself now:

I am a Goddess. I am a Wild Woman.

Now say it three times out loud.

Here’s the part where it is going to become your reality. Put a reminder in your phone for the next week to say: I am a Goddess. I am a Wild Woman.

The more you tell yourself the more it will become you. You will awaken in you the Goddess – the Wild Woman that has only been captured and not killed. Like Margaret Thatcher said, “Watch your thoughts for they become words. Watch your words for they become actions. Watch your actions for they become…habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny! What we think we become.”

Give up something you despise doing that is taking from your true you. Let it go. Tell others you are giving it up. No need to feel shame about taking an hour to yourself each day to do you. We have important jobs in this world and need to give our energies to things that make us better women, moms, wives, bosses and so on. What will you let of today? What will you start doing that you love?

Thanks for reading! Now go be that Wild Woman! Roar loud!
