Who Am I?
I am a momma to two beautiful girls, Julia and Claire. I live in a small picturesque town outside of Nashville, TN where I am a fine art photographer and all the rest is for fun. I’m a hobby kind of girl – gardening, reading, creating reclaimed art, writing and exercising (keeps my head straight).
Why the Blog?
In 2015 I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 along with generalized anxiety disorder and PTSD. That was a fun day (said with sarcasm) but to think of living then and now is a huge difference. Being the ask questions kind of gal that I am I began reading everything I could get my hands on. I was not going to continue to let it tear me down. I was slowly emerging from my pain and preparing to help others. I knew the only way to help others was to help myself. I also knew I didn’t want my daughters to grow up with an happy/sad/tired/energetic mom. I realized pretty quick that the only way I could help myself is to help others by sharing my journey. I had to take away the shame of mental illness and own it.
This site was birthed from my battle with mental illness. It is my hope that this site helps other women begin to tell their story and wash away the shame, guilt, hurt, depression and anxiety many of us feel. No one should feel alone and as women we tend to isolate ourselves when we need to show our true colors. I want to help women find the light and be proud of who they are.
